Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has activated the online application for Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2023 or Indian Administrative Services Examination 2023 (IAS 2023) at by releasing the notification. Candidates who have completed graduation can submit their UPSC CSE Application Form on or before 21 February 2023 at UPSC’s online website – Applicants have to first register themselves on One Time Registration (OTR) and then proceed to fill out the online application form for the exam. This year, UPSC will fill a total of 1105 UPSC vacancies, including 37 vacancies for persons with benchmark disability categories, 15 vacancies for locomotor disabilities including cerebral palsy, leprosy, dwarfism, acid attack victims, and muscular dystrophy; and 10 posts for persons with multiple disabilities. This year, UPSC is also conducting the Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) Recruitment Syllabus, Exam Pattern, Result, Cut off, Admit Card & Interview.

Educational Qualification

The candidate should be a graduate of any discipline to be able to apply for the UPSC 2023 exam. There is no minimum percentage required for graduation. However, a Degree in Engineering / Degree in Commerce/ Chartered Accountancy is required for IRMS 2023.

UPSC Age Limit 2023

UPSC Nationality:

For IAS, IFS, and IPS – A candidate must be a citizen of India.

For other services – A candidate must be either:

  • a citizen of India, or
  • a subject of Nepal, or
  • a subject of Bhutan, or
  • a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
  • a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

UPSC 2023 Selection Process

  • UPSC IAS Prelims 2023: The Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination (Objective Type) will be conducted for the candidates who would apply for the exam.
  • UPSC IAS Mains 2023: Those who clear the UPSC CSE Pre Exam will be called for the Civil Services (Main) Examination for the selection of candidates for the various Services and posts.

UPSC Syllabus 2023

Subject – There will be two papers (General Studies and CSAT)

Number of Questions and Marks: GS will have 100 questions for 200 marks and CSAT will have 80 questions for 200 marks

Time – Each paper will be given 2 hours to complete the test

Negative Marking – 1/3 mark shall be deducted for every incorrect answer

UPSC Admit Card 2023

UPSC will release the UPSC Civil Service 2023 Admit Card three weeks before the commencement of the examination on the official website of UPSC Online i.e. UPSC CSE Pre Admit Card shall be released in the month of May 2023. One would need to log in to the UPSC website to download UPSC CSE Admit Card 2023.

UPSC Recruitment 2023 Interview

The last stage of the UPSC exam is the UPSC Syllabus, Exam Pattern, Result, Cut off, Admit Card & Interview. It is mandatory for every candidate who qualifies for the UPSC CSE mains to appear in the interview as its marks will be counted to determine the merit list of the candidates. The Interview/Personality Test will carry 275 marks (with no minimum qualifying marks).
